Fun stuff I found:
Definition of sapiosexuality :.
(sā-pē-ō-sĕk-shü-ăl'ĭ-tē)
1.
1. (n.) A behavior of becoming attracted to or aroused by intelligence and its use.
Origins: From the Latin root sapien, wise or intelligent, and Latin sexualis, relating to the sexes.
Example: Me? I don't care too much about the looks. I want an incisive, inquisitive, insightful, irreverent mind. I want someone for whom philosophical discussion is foreplay. I want someone who sometimes makes me go ouch due to their wit and evil sense of humor. I want someone that I can reach out and touch randomly. I want someone I can cuddle with. I decided this all means that I am sapiosexual.
Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
Terry Pratchett
Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark. In the hopeless swamps of the not quite, the not yet, and the not at all, do not let the hero in your soul perish and leave only frustration for the life you deserved, but never have been able to reach. The world you desire can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours. --Ayn Rand (1905 - 1982), Atlas Shrugged

Disgrace, J.M. Coetzee
I'm reading this novel for my Comparative Literature course, entitled "Colonial and Postcolonial Lit". I'm only to chapter 8, but I think this is an amazing quote:
"That's wonderful, then. I'm sorry, I just find it hard to whip up an interest in the subject. It's admirable, what you do, but to me animal-welfare people are a bit like Christians of a certain kind. Everyone is so cheerful and well intentioned that after a while you itch to go off and do some raping and pillaging. Or to kick a cat".

Great Quotes to Ponder
Always learn poems by heart. They have to become the marrow in your bones. Like fluoride in the water, they'll make your soul impervious to the world's soft decay.
-Janet Fitch, White Oleander
Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life.
-Mary Manin Morrissey
What is the Absurd? It is, as may quite easily be seen, that I, a rational being, must act in a case where my reason, my powers of reflection, tell me: you can just as well do the one thing as the other, that is to say where my reason and reflection say: you cannot act and yet here is where I have to act... The Absurd, or to act by virtue of the absurd, is to act upon faith ... I must act, but reflection has closed the road so I take one of the possibilities and say: This is what I do, I cannot do otherwise because I am brought to a standstill by my powers of reflection.
– Søren Kierkegaard, Journals
Its like the whole world is this orchestra and I'm the conductor.
-Pretty Persuasion
I may forget you, but not forgive.
-Natalie Merchant
I do not hope for a better world for anyone, in fact I want my pain to be inflicted on others. I want no one to escape, but even after admitting this there is no catharsis, my punishment continues to elude me and I gain no deeper knowledge of myself; no new knowledge can be extracted from my telling. This confession has meant nothing.
-American Psycho
She makes the depression business look surprisingly novel.
Paradise isn't lost, it was hiding all along.
There's the ones that you love,
The ones that love you,
The ones that make you come unglued.
-Marilyn Manson
I have a competition in me. I want no one else to succeed. I hate most people. There are times when I look at people and I see nothing worth liking. I've built my hatreds up over the years, little by little.
-There Will Be Blood

Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare
Let me not to the marriage of true minds |
Admit impediments. Love is not love |
Which alters when it alteration finds, |
Or bends with the remover to remove: |
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark |
That looks on tempests and is never shaken; |
It is the star to every wandering bark, |
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken. |
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks |
Within his bending sickle's compass come: |
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, |
But bears it out even to the edge of doom. |
If this be error and upon me proved, |
I never writ, nor no man ever loved. |

Natalie Merchant is Such a Poet
It's a pity
It's a crying shame
Who pulled you down again?
How painful it must be
To bruise so easily inside
It's a pity
It's a downright crime
But it happens all the time
Wanna hide from the vicious world outside
They told you life is hard
It's misery from the start
It's dull and slow and painful
I tell you life is sweet
In spite of the misery
There's so much more
Be grateful
They told you life is hard
It's misery from the start
It's dull and slow and painful
I tell you life is sweet
In spite of the misery
There's so much more
Be grateful
They told you life is long
Be thankful when it's done
Don't ask for more
You should be grateful
But I tell you life is short
Be thankful because before you know
It will be over
It's a crying shame
Who pulled you down again?
How painful it must be
To bruise so easily inside
It's a pity
It's a downright crime
But it happens all the time
Wanna hide from the vicious world outside
They told you life is hard

I love being at college!
The campus is so beautiful...it looks just like Hogwarts. At night it really becomes the student's land; there are people walking around, working out at the gym, studying in the science center. The lights in the buildings are so pretty and soothing. Everything gets quiet and it doesn't feel like we have to share the campus with so many people. It just feels like my place. I can walk to the cafe and get a hot chocolate and it just makes me so happy.
I overlook the staff parking lot, and its so cool to see it empty out as the day wears on, and at night its so obvious that there aren't any adults here. Then in the morning I can hear cars pulling in slowly but surely. I look out my window and see the professors coming into work, and they just seem that much more human. Little things really make the experience more fun. Pub nights with professors are funny...but totally enjoyable. College is just such a cool world...a village just for students. We have our own pub, our own cafe, and our own beautiful campus to do what we want with.
P.S. Friday Jason and I are going to Lemongrass in Syracuse for Pad Thai! SOOO excited! Yummie.

The Five Stages of Drunkenness
Stage #1 -- Smart
This is when you suddenly become an expert on every subject. You
know all and greatly wish to express this knowledge to anyone who
will listen. At this stage you are also always right. And of course
the person you are talking with is very wrong. You will talk for
hours trying to convince someone that you are right. This makes for an
interesting argument when both parties are "smart". Two people talking,
in fact, arguing about a subject neither one really knows anything
about, but are convinced that they are they complete authority on the
subject makes for great entertainment for those get the opportunity to
listen in.
Stage #2 -- Handsome/Pretty
This is when you are convinced that you are the best looking person in
the entire room and everyone is looking at you. You begin to wink at
perfect strangers and ask them to dance because of course they had been
admiring you the whole evening. You are the center of attention, and all
eyes are directed at you because you are the most beautiful thing on the
face of the earth. Now keep in mind that you are still smart, so you can
talk to this person who has been admiring you about any and all subjects
under the sun.
Stage #3 -- Rich
This is when you suddenly become the richest person in the world. You can
buy drinks for the entire bar and put it on your bill because you surely
have an armored truck full of your money parked behind the bar. You can
also make bets in this stage. Now of course you still know all, so you
will always win all your bets. And you have no concern for how much
money you bet because you have all the money in the world. You will also
begin to buy drinks for all the people in the bar who are admiring you
because you are now the smartest, prettiest, and richest person on the
face of the earth.
Stage #4 -- Bulletproof
You can now pick fights with the people you have been betting money with
because you cannot be hurt by anything. At this point you would go up to
the boyfriend of the woman who had been admiring your beautiful self
all evening and challenge him to a battle of wits for money. You have no
worry about losing this battle of wits because you know all, have all
the money to cover this bet, and you obviously win a fight that might
erupt if he looses.
Stage #5 -- Invisible
This is the final stage of drunkenness. At this point you can do
absolutely anything because no one can see you. You can get up and dance
on a table; you can strip down to your underwear, to impress the people
who have been admiring you all evening, because the rest of the people
in the room cannot see you. You are also invisible to the person whom
you have picked a fight with earlier in the evening. You can walk through
the streets singing at the top of your lungs (because of course you are
still smart and know the tune perfectly) and no one will think anything
of it because they can't see you. All your social inhibitions are
gone. You can do anything, because no one will know.
And you certainly won't remember !

Vote Obama
It's so important that we all go out and vote. Especially the young people. We are the people who can get Obama elected. Don't be hungover on election day. Don't be too lazy or too busy. Go VOTE! And if you're at college out of state, get an absentee ballot! Do it! We can't afford to have McCain get elected...and he will if we don't make an effort.

Floating over a sea of Vicodin
I have the best parents ever. Tonight Daddy went and got me the Chicken Marsala I like because I asked for it and it's soft enough to swallow.
Mommie ordered me a book all about Elliott Smith to entertain me in my sick bed. How thoughtful is that? Aww I love them both so much.
And tomorrow I get to see Jason!

And tomorrow I get to see Jason!
My throat got ripped out
So, getting your tonsils out SUCKS!! But the funny thing is, I can't decide which I'm more excited about....having the pain go away, or eating. Obviously the two are linked....but ultimately I'm more excited for real food. I want Quesadillas, Pad Thai, and Pizza. My three favorite foods!
I get to see Jason really soon which will be awesome. I need to cuddle with him.
I watched the whole first season of 30 Rock and now I'm working on the second. Ever since The Royal Tenenbaums I've loved Alec Baldwin. It's a great show.
My room still smells really good because of my beautiful flowers. If it weren't for Vicodin I'd be dead.
